There are several ways to decrease the height of a blood sugar peak. A couple of ideas you can try out, to see to what extent they work for yourself:

  • Add more fats (this buffers the effect of the glucose intake)
  • Add more fibers (this also buffers the effect of the glucose intake)
  • Add cinnamon (it has as a property to stabilize or lower your blood sugar levels)
  • Try apple cider vinegar (it also has as a property to stabilize or lower your blood sugar levels)
  • Limit the portion size. When you observe a peak from a certain food, eating less of it might work
  • Lower the amount of sugars in your food
  • Lower the amount of carbohydrates in your food
  • Drink enough water (it re-hydrates the blood)
  • Control your stress
  • Get a higher quality of sleep
  • Eat foods, or use supplements that contain chromium and magnesium
  • Exercise regular
  • Trying a vegan or vegetarian diet
  • Foods high in probiotics, such as yoghurt


Note: many people experience their blood sugar levels dropping when consuming alcohol. This explains why after a couple of drinks, people tend to feel sleepy and hungry. This is, however, not a healthy way to lower your blood sugar levels. Alcohol is still bad for your liver.
